Mayor Misty Buscher Appoints Chuck Redpath to City Clerk – Sends Leftist Snowflakes into Tantrum Mode

According to Capital City Now, Springfield’s Republican Mayor, Misty Buscher, intends to appoint a political ally to a city council vacancy, turning the local left-wing activists into a puddle of wailing, gnashing, and hair-tearing.

After officially winning the election for Sangamon County Clerk, Springfield City Clerk Frank Lesko decided to hang up his hat on New Year’s Day, leaving a vacancy that Mayor Buscher intends to fill with Ward 1 Alderman Chuck Redpath, a move so standard it’s practically bureaucratic wallpaper.

But oh no, the leftists of Springfield see this as the end of democracy or the fall of Rome, due to their inability to cope with anything other than total control.

The Springfield City Council will vote on the appointment at a special City Council meeting on Monday, January 5.

Social media has been ablaze with Facebook posts from the offended. The irony, of course, is that this appointment is as routine as changing a lightbulb, but for these folks, it’s like the apocalypse has arrived in the form of a Republican mayor doing her job.

You’d think they’d have bigger fish to fry than standard political appointments, but I guess when your entire identity is tied to being perpetually offended, this is what passes for a crisis.

Mayor Buscher, known for her moderate approach, likely views this all with the amusement of someone watching cats chase a laser pointer. Her silence on the matter suggests she’s more interested in running the city than pandering to the whims of those who love political violence and hate all Republicans.

Now, here comes the kicker: with Redpath’s old seat now empty, Mayor Buscher has the golden opportunity to appoint his successor.

Mayor Buscher has not named her appointment for Ward 1 alderman.

We at The Springfield Pooch believe that Mayor Buscher should choose Frank Vala, a conservative whose name alone is enough to make activists froth at the mouth like they’ve just seen the ending of a mask-mandate.

If Buscher does indeed pull the trigger on appointing Vala, expect the outcry to reach levels only seen when a mom suggests banning gay pornography from her son’s elementary school library.

Mayor Buscher, who has been at the helm since her narrow victory over incumbent Jim Langfelder in 2023, will be making the first city council vacancy appointments of her administration.

The activists throwing a temper-tantrum may not remember that former Mayor Langfelder made two vacancy appointments to the Springfield City Council in 2021, a mere four years ago.

Langfelder appointed LaKeisha Purchase as Ward 5 Alderman after Andrew Proctor vacated, and Langfelder appointed Roy Williams Jr. as Ward 3 Alderman after Doris Turner vacated.

Of course, such a small detail would never stop the local activists from melting down. It’s all they are capable of doing.

Always remember the woke leftist motto: rules for thee, not for me!
