Sangamon County Board Member Reggie Guyton Declares War on “Whiteness,” Exhausted by the Mere Existence of White People

Springfield’s resident theater actor-turned-activist-turned-Democratic County Board member Reggie Guyton is once again performing his favorite role: the perpetually aggrieved victim of an entire race.

In a Facebook post shared Tuesday, August 18, 2026, under the banner “Sharing because mood,” the District 21 board member launched into a lengthy complaint about how “Whiteness/White centered social standards have worked to invalidate nearly every experience of Blackness or Queerdom if it isn’t beneficial to Whiteness.”

He continued: “It’s engrained in nearly every experience of American Society in some way. It’s the knee jerk reaction to reading this post. It is the feeling like a pariah in your everyday spaces.”

Then came the full dramatic monologue: “I’m just tired yall. Tired of the meanness. Tired of being perceived as the problem when I notice things and distance myself. Tired of calling it out and then not being listened to. Tired of the perceived allies online who treat people as handbags and accessories. Just. Plain. Tired.”

Apparently, noticing patterns, disagreeing with the latest racial grievance script, or simply existing as a white person now qualifies as “meanness” that invalidates Black and queer experience. The solution, according to the shared post he amplified, is to stop even trying to distinguish actual racism from ordinary disagreement and just start blocking white people wholesale.

Guyton’s post reads less like a cry of exhaustion and more like a confession of racial obsession. Everything is filtered through the lens of racial grievance. White social standards are the problem. White-centered society is the problem. White people noticing his posts and reacting are the problem. Perceived white allies who don’t perform sufficiently are the problem. The only constant is that “Whiteness” is the villain and Reggie is the long-suffering hero too pure for this racist world.

This is the predictable endpoint of the ideology that treats “Whiteness” as an original sin rather than a skin color. It produces public officials who can hold local office, perform in taxpayer-supported cultural institutions, and still claim to feel like pariahs because the rest of society refuses to treat their every complaint as holy writ.

Springfield residents who prefer their elected officials focused on roads, budgets, and public safety rather than racial score-settling might want to take note. When a county board member spends his time publicly declaring exhaustion with an entire race and amplifying calls to simply block “yt people,” it tells you exactly where his priorities lie.

Normal people are Just. Plain. Tired. Of this routine.
